Today, I'm collaborating with publicist/celebrity blogger, Cynthia Smoot. As usual, I asked her JP's 3, photographed her & discussed why her outfit makes a fashment.

JP's 3

Question 1: From what I know about you, you are known for having the scoop here in Dallas--with people even calling you the "TMZ of Dallas". What's that like and how do you know so much?

OhSoCynthia: I started the blog in 2008, so after covering Dallas hottest events and coolest people for a decade. People love to gossip and they bring the tea to me! I’ve established credibility and people know that I won’t use the information to throw them under the bus, nor will I use it to harm anyone. I make it a point on my blog to, “promote what you love, don’t bash what you hate” but, oh, the stories I could tell!

Question 2: Not only do you blog, you're a publicist too. For anyone wanting to start a blog or become a publicist, what are some key strategies to creating buzz?

OhSoCynthia: Yes, publicist by day, socialite by night. LOL. There are many similarities between the two professions. Both are designed to tell stories and educate readers about the people, events, products or services I think you need to know more about. Crafting a persona through social media is key, whether that is Linkedin or Instagram. These sites provide you a platform to hone your image, show people your expertise in a field or industry, and develop a following that will follow you wherever you go.

Question 3: You're one of Dallas' most notable socialites, what events do you always look forward to attending?

OhSoCynthia: Hands down, some of my favorite events of the year are Mad Hatters Tea, DIFFA and Boots & Blessings. Mad Hatters Tea will take place on April 12 at the Dallas Arboretum. It’s pretty much grown women playing dress up, wearing big hats, drinking champagne and watching a fashion show. The proceeds benefit “A Woman’s Garden” at the Dallas Arboretum, so if you love people watching and playing pretty princess, Mad Hatters is perfect for you. Boots and Blessings benefits Ally’s Wish, which grants “last wishes” for terminally ill Mothers. As a mom myself, it’s a cause that hits close to home and the party is so fun. It’s kind of like a mini-Cattle Barons Ball that will take place April 21 this year. I love any excuse to wear cowboy boots! DIFFA is a “can’t miss” event that will occur on May 12. It’s always super over the top with a fun theme, and proceeds go towards fighting HIV/AIDS. Dallas loves to party for a cause! The dedication to philanthropy is one of the things that is special about Dallas. It’s inspiring to work with the many organizations who are doing so much good in our community.
