Question 1: Not only do you run a skincare company, but you’re also on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Dallas and produce/star on a podcast called “I Don’t Give A Rip”. What has been your biggest accomplishment to date and how do you manage your time so effectively?

D’Andra Simmons: That’s a difficult question; we think about accomplishments and put them in boxes like personal or professional. On a personal note, I had gone to Iraq to help women who had been captured by ISIS. As a survivor of domestic violence, I would tell them my story, which allowed them to open up & reveal their stories. We were able to get them help by listening to their needs and immigrate them to Australia. To share my story and make a difference in their lives, my life had been forever changed.
On a personal level, I’ve restructured the brand, Hard Night Good Morning by doing it with my own resources. When you talk about starting a company, I’m taking a risk by rethinking how I was selling my products, rebranding & potentially in talks with major retailers to have Hard Night Good Morning in a store near you.
I’m honestly not the best at managing time effectively, but I’m working on it. I think with time management the biggest lesson I’m learning is you have these buckets of priorities of time in your life. Right now, the biggest bucket for me is my business, when Real Housewives is filming I made a commitment to the show I would put that first. Of course, the most important bucket in my life is my marriage and I got to get all those priorities in order.

Question 2: What’s one interesting fact about you that no one knows about you?

D’Andra Simmons: I think the one thing people don’t know and would be surprising is I want to be a stand up comedian. I’ve wanted to be in comedy my whole life; Real Housewives franchise is suppose to be a comedy. If you look at the format of the show, you’re meant to relax, laugh and enjoy the show. Also, my podcast for me is my platform for comedy and maybe one day I’ll make it to the stage with my monologue of jokes.

Question 3: Listening to your podcast, I Don’t Give A Rip, you mention you’re wanting to do a cookbook? When will it come out and what’s your one dish that you’ll love to cook all the time?

D’Andra Simmons: The cookbook was in process until we had to put it on the sidelines for now due to my mother is working on another project in LA. My mother is a baker and I’m a savor cook, so we both thought to do a cookbook together. I just love to cook French cuisine because I used to live in France in my junior year abroad. I lived with two families and they taught me the ins and outs of French cuisine. I’ve never cooked low fat, always cooked with olive oil, butter or cream.
My favorite dish to cook depends on the time of year. Currently in the summer time, I want to make something light like making arugula salad with grilled fish with a Mediterranean lemon olive oil paired with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. However in the wintertime, I’ll make more meaty meals like lamb shanks, stews or roasts.

BONUS QUESTION: You’re one of the most popular housewives in the Bravo franchise, what can viewers expect this 4th season on the Real Housewives of Dallas?

D’Andra Simmons: The choices I made last year right or wrong made my life more difficult. I even got nicknamed, “D’Anger” by the viewers. This year, I decided to chill out and not be a part of every major issue. My relationship with LeeAnne is still tenuous, but trying to rebuild that relationship; I bring a new character to the show. Kary Brittingham with a K, not a C. The new dynamic with Kary is a huge hit; she’s a spicy Mexican woman from Guadalajara, Mexico. My mother and I still fight like cats and dogs again. The most important thing you’ll see this season is it’s FUN; truly a comedy versus how dark it went last year. My birthday was this year, I turned 50, and so we went on a trip and had a bit too much fun. The biggest lesson, I learned is to think about what I’m saying and how I’m delivering them; lessons learned how about that.
